On the Road to 2030

How the electric vehicle charging
industry will enable the phase-out of
petrol and diesel vehicles in the UK.

EXCERPT

The government has set a goal that by 2030 all new cars sold will come with a charging plug, and that from 2035 all new cars should be zero emission vehicles. Transport remains the largest emitting sector of the UK economy, meaning that a rapid transition to zero emissions road transport is critical to reduce climate risk.

In preparing this report, we carried out a survey of charging infrastructure operators, installers, and manufacturers. This consisted of a written questionnaire, as well as interviews. We also surveyed publicly available data from the four largest chargepoint operators in the UK, and performed analysis of public datasets made available by the Department for Transport, Field Dynamics, and [others].
